Creative Arts Champlain

It’s that time of year again. Come join us on Friday, May 13 for our 39th annual year-end film screening and exhibition. Our students have been hard at work producing films, animations, paintings, sculptures, photographs and other amazing works of inspiration. Festivities begin at 5pm in the gallery, move to the auditorium for the film screening at 7pm and then back to the gallery after the screening. Bring your family and your friends. We really hope you drop by.

Here is what some of our second semester photo students came up with when asked to build a pinhole camera that went beyond the traditional Quaker Oats box.

Thanks for supporting our recent exhibition of art and photography by Champlain’s talented Faculty and staff.  Already many others have come forward about showing their work next year.
Our latest exhibit features the work of students in Creative Arts classes, “Art & Media” and “Beyond the Object”.  It will be in the Wayne Remington Gallery (2nd floor of G-block) until May 9.  We hope you will take a moment to check it out.

There is a long tradition in art history of still-lifes, which are also called ‘Trompe l’oeil‘ in painting and drawing.  In this project 3rd semester DISA students had to create a fully rendered, realistic scene which had to include modeling, surface textures and lighting.

Why are Kim Handfield and Marianne Paquette acting so silly? You would have to ask them. But they’ve each just been awarded $750 dollars at the Caisse Desjardins Scholarships evening. Kim received the “Bourses d’Excellence” for being the Creative Arts student with the highest R scores in her first 2 semesters at Champlain.  Marianne, just finishing her first year at Champlain, took the prize for Creative Arts student with the highest overall average from her high school.  Congratulations to both!
