Program Info
At Champlain St. Lambert, Creative Arts is a combination of three separate areas of study, or what we call “profiles”:
Film/ Video/ Communications
Photo/ Design
Digital Imaging/ Studio Art
In a common first semester you will be introduced to each of the profiles, with a separate course that shows you in detail what you will experience in that area. You will choose the profile that best meets your university and/or career aspirations, and then it’s full steam ahead! The courses in subsequent semesters will build upon each other, giving you increasing expertise and an ever-broadening array of possibilities within the field.
However, in this age of digital media, our profiles do overlap! And not only that, but just because you’ve opted to specialize in one profile doesn’t mean you’re not interested in the others. For that reason we’ve also designed our program to allow you to continue to develop your interests in the other areas, with Option courses.
In your final semester, you’ll probably be thinking about what comes next! And we’ll be helping to guide you in those reflections. In addition to your other advanced level classes, the Portfolio course is specifically intended to “sum up” what you’ve learned at Champlain. It will give you a chance to figure out where you’re heading next, define your goals, and prepare a portfolio, statement, or letter of intent for use in job or university applications.
