This music video for Toronto country & western artist Lee Mellor was shot at Champlain by last year’s award winning film student, Andre Lai. Also on the crew were second year students Melanie Cardinal and Michael Gannon. AV technician Pat Ellis did the lighting. Look for Creative Arts technician Ron Hiscock playing the standup bass!
Here is a slide show of photos showing students and teachers at work in the Creative Arts program, 2009-2010.
In this Advanced Digital Workshop, 4th semester DISA students began developing more personal work. These images were extracted from longer film projects using 3D Modeling techniques.
A startling and beautifully shot film by Andre Lai, Kim Dionne and Ryan Baird about a young man adrift in sea of uncertainty and turmoil.
For their final project in a Light and Image Photo option course Ryan Graham, Adam Keeler, Matteo Modafferi and Will Keating decided to create their own take on the Batman comic book series. They were responsible for the sets, costumes, make-up, writing, storyboarding, layout, lighting and, of course, photography. Oh, and we believe they cast themselves as the characters too.
Photo students in a second semester 2D/3D design course were asked to create a book based on a piece of music. Here are a few of the results.
The following images are from an assignment given in the Drawing Option class. Loosely based on the format of an exquisite corpse, students were asked to do a self-portrait in three segments. The top segment consisted of a direct form observation portrait of themselves. In the middle segment, they were to consider themselves as something else – either as an animate or inanimate object. And finally they were asked to place themselves in a specific location, environment, or situation.
Here are a few examples of pinhole cameras and the resulting images that were made by photo students in their 2D/3D design class. Most use paper negatives, but the chair actually has a built-in film mechanism.
