Loosely based on the format of an exquisite corpse, students were asked to do a self-portrait in three segments. The top segment consisted of a direct form observation portrait of themselves. In the middle segment, they were to consider themselves as something else – either as an animate or inanimate object. And finally they were asked to place themselves in a specific location, environment, or situation.
